15/10/14 Discovering Books
I have recently taken quite a few books out of the University library to gather inspiration and research for my City in Flux project. Among them was a book on Neville Brody, after looking through his works I came across some posters he designed for his publication 'Fuse'. I loved how he used subtle background imagery and colour to show the atmosphere of the publication's subject. I looked into the separate issues of Fuse and found out there were 20 issues published, so I looked on Amazon to see if they were affordable enough for me to but a few. I was amazed to find all 20 issues had been combined into a book and was available to buy for £18, so I bought them straight away. I received the book and a number of great posters too and the book has already inspired some ideas for my three City in Flux concepts.
I also found a book on 8vo, a studio which Wim Crouwel worked closely with and a book on modernist design. I have not looked through them properly but with them and the book I still have on the works of Wim Crouwel I will use these to inspire my City in Flux concepts
