Neubau Lecture

I have followed Neubau for a few years and have loved their recent books. So when I heard there would be a guest lecture at University from them I was bouncing off the walls with excitement! Their new book they were promoting was a catalog of tree vectors, which was aimed for architects so the content of the book was not really of interest to me. What I loved about the book was their precision planning using the anchorpoints of their logo overlaid on a map to pinpoint trees in Berlin to vectorise over two seasons. They also gave great thought to the economics of their book, since it was about trees it seemed only right to make sure they used alternate or sustainable resources. When they discovered they just had to use recycled and sustainable paper rather than a whole new paper making material, they calculated that the time they save designers on their computer making their own vector art, they reduce the electricity and carbon used overall and so in the long run helping the environment. I also liked their way of archiving design resources like vector art and images for use later on, so like I have already done with my photography I will try and develop a bank of vector art I can use when I need it.
